The Crawford Central Community Foundation’s “Pay It Forward” Awards are given annually to a graduating senior at Cochranton Jr.- Sr. and Meadville Area High Schools with a $500 award to each recipient. The Award recognizes students who have made outstanding contributions in the form of service to their community (school,neighborhood and hometown) and who exemplify the mission of the CCCF. The students are nominated by their High School Guidance Counselors.
This year’s recipients are Kaylee Pearl- Cochranton and Natalie Smith- MASH.
Natalie Smith was the secretary of the MASH National Honor Society, secretary of MASH Student Government and competed on the Track and Field Team. Natalie also participated in numerous community endeavors including volunteering at West Mead 1 Fire Company, she is certified as a paramedic, plays the bagpipes, is a member of the Jack Curtin St. Patrick’s Committee and helped in fund-raising activities at her church. Natalie will attend PennWest Edinboro to pursue a nursing degree.

Kaylee Pearl is a member of the National Honor Society, served as the vice-president of the Spanish Club, volunteered at her church and summer vacation Bible School and was a member of the Cochranton Marching Band playing flute and participated in STEM Academy. Kaylee will attend Carlow University studying pre-speech language pathology.

Congratulations to Natalie and Kaylee as you embark on your next journeys. Please continue to “Pay It Forward” in service and kindness.
The Marilyn Kinter R.N. Memorial Scholarship Award was established in memory of Marilyn Kinter, a nurse at the Meadville Medical Center who worked in the newborn and intensive care units. This year’s recipients, Raygan Erdley, Cochranton High School and Emma Blair, MASH, (pictured with Dr. Susan Sapone, Mrs. Kinter’s daughter), will receive $500 each to pursue degrees in Nursing. Raygan will attend the University of Pittsburgh and Emma will attend PennWest Clarion.


Congratulations to Raygan and Emma as you take the next steps in pursuing your degrees in Nursing. A special thanks to Dr. Susan Sapone and the Marilyn and Robert Kinter family for entrusting the Crawford Central Community Foundation with your scholarships in memory of your parents.
Caleb Anderson (pictured on the left) and Ben Fuller are the co-recipients of the David C. Anderson Memorial Wrestling Scholarship. Ben plans to attend PennWest Edinboro and Caleb, the online collegiate program at IUP. The David C. Anderson Wrestling Scholarship was established by Dave’s wife, Mrs. Peggy Anderson and their sons. Caleb is the grandson of David C. Anderson.

Congratulations to Ben and Caleb and best wishes as you continue the next chapter in college. Thank you also to the David C. Anderson Family for entrusting this scholarship to the Crawford Central Community Foundation.
Elliott Schleicher is the 2025 recipient of the Rick Zylak Memorial Award, established by Rick’s wife Sherry, and his children, Jordan and Jennifer Zylak. Elliott plans to attend Susquehanna University and major in biomedical sciences. The Rick Zylak Memorial Award is in the amount of $750 with the recipient intending to study Science, Technology/ Trade, Engineering, Arts or Math (STEAM). Mary Lynne Peters, President of the Crawford Central Community Foundation, presented Elliott with her Award at the MASH Senior Awards Event.

Congratulations to Elliott and best wishes on your future endeavors. Thank you also to Sherry Zylak, Jordan, Jennifer, friends and families for establishing this Scholarship in memory of Rick.
Congratulations to Jacob Costello, this year’s recipient of the Robert Kinter Memorial Award in the amount of $500. Jacob, pictured with Dr. Susan Sapone, daughter of Mr. Kinter, is graduating from MASH and Crawford Tech in Drafting and Design. Jacob will be entering the work force upon graduation with Andco Manufacturing.

Congratulations to Jacob and thank you to Andco Manufacturing for hiring him. Thank you also to Susan Sapone and family for providing this Scholarship opportunity in memory of your Father, Robert Kinter.
